Movement covers traversal, positioning, rotations, pursuit and escape. The game displays distance in meters and speed in meters per second; its Source 2 internal unit is approximately one inch, or 0.0254 m. There is no fall damage. The official October 30, 2026 update increased the movement-slow-to-air-drag ratio from 0.35 to 0.5.

Basic controls

W, A, S and D move by default; Space jumps and can be held near a ledge to mantle. Ctrl crouches, or slides at 8.9 m/s (350 units/s) or on an incline. Shift dashes on the ground or in the air. Heroes have different movement and dash speeds. Sprint starts automatically after five seconds out of combat and ends on combat or zooming; zooming returns speed to base. Some heroes begin with sprint and others can obtain it from items.

Action Input and rules Stamina
Air jump Jump in midair; normally once per jump, twice with Stamina Mastery. 1
Wall jump Jump beside a wall; successive jumps lose height through fatigue. Fatigue recovers over 1.25 s or fully on landing; an airborne heavy melee also causes fatigue. First free; each subsequent 0.5
Air dash Dash in air; normally once per jump, twice with Stamina Mastery. Same as ground dash
Dash jump Jump during the blue crosshair/stamina-bar timing window of a dash. 1 extra, 2 total
Down dash Double-tap crouch in air; normally once per jump, twice with Stamina Mastery. 0.5
Mantle Hold jump near a ledge; hold crouch during the climb for a Mantle Glide. A melee hit while mantling applies an 80% slow tapering to 20% over 2 s. Ground mantle free

Map traversal

Jump pads launch heroes along set paths, ropes provide vertical routes, paired teleporters move players across the map, and ziplines connect the bases and carry heroes from spawn. Individual heroes and items also offer movement options.

Advanced techniques

A melee jump times a heavy melee with a wall jump to gain height without spending a double jump. Corner boosting exploits wall-jump collision normals: the source proposes that rounded collision at a corner can angle the reset velocity upward, giving more vertical momentum. A dropdown corner boost drops from an edge and wall jumps to gain height without stamina. The source marks friction as unfinished.

A Dash Jump Cancel casts a suitable ability during the dash-jump window, cancelling that window, then uses an ordinary jump. It can cover more ground than a dash; slow or long-cast abilities offer little benefit. The source lists the following candidates:

Hero Ability Notes
Billy Blasted; Chain Gang —
Calico Gloom Bombs —
Doorman Doorway; Luggage Cart Doorway works only while placing doors.
Drifter Stalker’s Mark —
Dynamo Rejuvenating Aurora Requires tier 3.
Grey Talon Spirit Snare —
Haze Sleep Dagger; Smoke Bomb —
Holliday Powder Keg; Bounce Pad Bounce Pad gives a substantial velocity increase.
Infernus Napalm —
Ivy Entangling Thorns; Kudzu Connection —
Kelvin Frost Grenade; Frozen Shelter Shelter can be cancelled before hitting the wall.
Lady Geist Essence Bomb; Malice Malice delays the jump, making the cancel harder; a following slide needs move-speed items.
Lash Flog —
McGinnis Mini Turret; Medicinal Specter; Spectral Wall; Heavy Barrage Heavy Barrage’s slow prevents a following slide without move-speed items.
Mina Rake —
Mirage Fire Scarabs; Djinn’s Mark Each Fire Scarabs cast can be cancelled separately.
Mo & Krill Scorn; Sand Blast —
Paige Conjure Dragon; Captivating Read —
Paradox Pulse Grenade; Kinetic Carbine; Paradoxical Swap —
Pocket Flying Cloak —
Seven Lightning Ball; Static Charge; Power Surge —
Shiv Serrated Knives; Bloodletting Serrated Knives delays the jump and needs move-speed items for a following slide.
Sinclair Vexing Bolt; Spectral Assistant; Rabbit Hex Vexing Bolt delays the jump and needs move-speed items for a following slide.
Vindicta Stake; Crow Familiar; Assassinate Crow Familiar needs move-speed items for a following slide. Assassinate must be fully cast and unscoped before jumping to follow with a slide.
Viscous Splatter; Puddle Punch Splatter needs move-speed items for a following slide.
Vyper Screwjab Dagger; Lethal Venom; Petrifying Bola —
Warden Alchemical Flask; Willpower; Binding Word Willpower needs move-speed items for a following slide.
Wraith Card Trick; Full Auto; Telekinesis Card Trick needs move-speed items for a following slide.

Heavy Melee Cancel once preserved more momentum; the April 17, 2025 update sharply reduced its movement benefit.

Movement abilities

The game classifies the following as movement abilities, disabled by Slowing Hex. Descriptions summarize the source’s listed effects.

Hero Ability Effect
Abrams Shoulder Charge Charge and pull enemies; a hero pushed into a wall is stunned, and a hero collision speeds the charge.
Abrams Seismic Impact Leap and crash at a chosen ground location, damaging and stunning nearby enemies.
Calico Leaping Slash Dash and deal light melee damage in a circle.
Calico Ava Possess Ava for speed and minimap concealment, unable to attack or cast.
Calico Return to Shadows Become untargetable, gain speed and deal damage.
Dynamo Quantum Entanglement Disappear and reappear nearby, reload and gain fire rate for the next clip, up to 8 s.
Grey Talon Rain of Arrows Launch and glide with weapon damage and multishot; alternate cast lowers jump height, Space cancels glide.
Haze Smoke Bomb Become invisible and gain sprint speed; attacks break invisibility and nearby enemies can see through it.
Holliday Bounce Pad Place a pad that launches any hero.
Infernus Flame Dash Move quickly, leaving burning flames; gain 50% slow resistance.
Ivy Air Drop Fly with an ally or bomb and drop it in a slowing explosion. Ivy and ally gain bullet shields at flight end; the carried ally has bullet resist, cannot attack and deals 50% less damage. Targeting an ally casts faster.
Kelvin Ice Path Create a walkable aerial trail giving allies movement bonuses and Kelvin 60% slow resistance; enemies can use it too. Shift and Ctrl move up and down.
Lash Grapple Pull toward a target and reset air-jump and dash limits.
Mirage Tornado Move as a tornado, damaging and lifting enemies, then gain bullet evasion.
Mirage Traveler Channel to teleport to an ally or visible enemy’s position at channel start; gain movement speed and fire rate until reload.
Mo & Krill Burrow Move underground faster with bullet and spirit armor; enemy hero damage reduces the speed bonus. Emerge with a knock-up and damaging, slowing spin; cooldown begins at end.
Paradox Paradoxical Swap Exchange positions with a hit enemy hero, gaining spirit lifesteal while dealing damage over time.
Pocket Flying Cloak Send a damaging cloak forward; press 2 to teleport to it.
Shiv Slice and Dice Dash through enemies for damage; at full rage an ultimate-unlocked echo repeats the path.
Shiv Killing Blow Leap to damage the first enemy hero or execute below threshold; a finishing hit allows recast for 12 s.
Sinclair Spectral Assistant Press 2 while the assistant is out to swap positions.
Vindicta Flight Fly and deal bonus spirit damage with the weapon.
Viscous Goo Ball Become a bouncing, double-jumping ball with bullet and spirit resistance; impact damages and stuns.
Vyper Slither Increase slide distance, slide uphill and turn faster while sliding.
Warden Willpower Gain a spirit shield and movement speed.
Wraith Project Mind Teleport to a targeted location.
Yamato Flying Strike Grapple to an enemy, damaging and slowing on arrival.
