Each base contains two Shrines on opposite sides. Both must be destroyed before the Patron can be damaged. The Patron defends a Shrine under attack with a beam that damages and curses players on or near its platform.

Defenses

Shrines are invulnerable until at least one pair of Base Guardians has been destroyed. They also ignore damage originating outside their platform. They have 20% base Bullet Resist and an additional 60% enemy-scaling Bullet Resist, reduced by 20 percentage points per nearby enemy hero to zero with three or more. The two resistances combine multiplicatively. Backdoor Protection adds 65% damage resistance and 65 health regeneration per second.

Shrines start at 5,000 health. When the first is destroyed, the remaining Shrine’s health increases to 10,000. Its allied lane’s Troopers become Super Troopers for the rest of the match; Blue-lane Troopers do so after either Shrine falls. Super Troopers gain 60% damage and 40% health and yield 15% less bounty to enemies. Destroying both Shrines makes the Patron vulnerable.

The Hidden King’s orange Shrine has three large and three small loudspeakers on a candle-lined hexagonal platform. The Archmother’s blue Shrine holds a magical tome on a stand above a hexagon and sigils. Both appear to direct energy toward their Patron. An older model resembled a throne with a modified Guardian, and an unused windmill Shrine appears in the game files.
