Mina Ha had it all…rich parents, elite education, and an arranged marriage that would see her ascend from run-of-the-mill upper class to American royalty. She was happy.

Then her betrothed was assassinated.

Mina wept; not for the life of her fiancé, but for the future that was stolen from her. Why couldn’t the killer just wait until after the wedding? Then she’d have the last name she always dreamed of and no one would even have to pretend to love anyone. It could have been perfect, but life wasn’t fair…and so Mina did what she always does when things don’t go her way: she told her parents to fix it.

Mr. And Mrs. Ha knew that the only way to appease their daughter was to offer her something greater than what she lost… and marrying into one of the world’s most lauded families was a tall order to top. They had to think big. They had to think outside of the box. They had to promise their daughter immortality.

It took a small fortune, but eventually they found a vampire who was willing to turn her. Unsurprisingly, Mina thought the idea of eternal youth and a trust fund was an acceptable plan B and happily agreed to the proposal.

Now a fledgling vampire, Mina is quickly discovering that the clout she held as a human has no weight in vampire high society…and while at first that annoyed her, if there is one thing Mina has a knack for, it’s learning the rules so she can subvert them. She will be the Viscount of New York, the other vampires just don’t know it yet.

Overview

Mina’s motivation in the ritual is to become Viscount of New York.[1]

Biography

The daughter of a "new money" couple,[2] Mina Ha was educated at Blackmore Academy.[3] Over 5 years before the ritual, Mina’s parents arranged a marriage for her with Arin Fairfax,[4][5][6] the eldest heir of Fairfax Industries,[7] which would have elevated Mina to American royalty. Unfortunately, Arin was declared dead after an assassination attempt, which destroyed the Ha family’s plans.

Frustrated, Mina asked her parents to "fix it". They promised her immortality and, for a small fortune, managed to find a vampire willing to turn her into one. After her transformation (which she considers "botched" by her parents),[8] Mina discovered that she was now at the bottom of the vampiric social ladder,[9] which inspired her new goal of becoming Viscount of New York, taking over from Viscount Simon.[10] The other vampires don’t know that Mina is summoning the Patrons to become Viscount, and they likely wouldn’t approve of it.[11]

Outside of her vampiric work, Mina is a fashion designer and knows how to sew.[12][13][14] She owns a clothing brand and is currently building up a "fashion empire".[15]

Mina is implied to be close to Pocket’s age, who is 23 years old.[7]

Personality

Mina is judgemental and holds high standards for herself and others,[8][16][17] respecting those whom she finds powerful and stylish.[18][19] In general, Mina is often antagonistic to other characters and has a reputation for being unpleasant.[20][21] Mina views her allies as "the help",[22] and doesn’t show any sympathy towards even the most tragic characters.[23][24][25] She also dislikes altruistic people.[26][27] The other heroes refer to Mina as a "spoiled brat".[28][29][30]

Mina believes that becoming Viscount is her destiny,[31] and wants to prove her worth to the other vampires.[9][32] She’s willing to "suck up" to those in power to achieve her goals.[33]

Mina loves the bats she uses in Nox Nostra, referring to them as "darlings".[34][35] She likes to use Sanguine Retreat to be annoying.[36]

Appearance

Mina is a slim, young East Asian woman (based on her facial features and "Ha" last name) with pale white skin. She has red eyes and blue-black hair that fades to red in a bob cut.

She wears a short black dress with a collar and a red pendant, a black and blue jacket shaped like an umbrella or a vampire squid with red underside, red gloves, and black thigh-high boots and stockings. She carries a black umbrella with a spike at the top and red underside, and a red purse with a red bat pendant.

Her weapon is a pistol similar to German Walther PP with a wing accent lebeled "Nuit Rouge 7" ("Red Night 7" in French), with a magazine shaped like a red perfume bottle.

Mina holds her pistol in her left hand, like Lady Geist. While this is done for gameplay purposes so her umbrella doesn’t cover her model, it could also reflect her admiration for Geist.

Information

Mina’s ultimate Nox Nostra means "Our Night" in Latin.

Character Relationships

Mina’s parents

Mina’s parents spoiled Mina rotten.[37][38] According to Mina, they "botched" her turning into a vampire.[8]

Mina believes that her mother would tell her that she’s "lowering herself" to the enemy team’s level.[39]

Pocket

Mina was betrothed to Pocket due to an arranged marriage.[4][5][6]

Mina hates Pocket for "ruining her life", as Pocket’s assassination meant Mina couldn’t become a Fairfax.[40][41]

It’s implied that Mina and Pocket never loved each other, as she only ever cared about getting their last name.[42] It’s currently unknown what Pocket thinks of Mina.

Lady Geist

Mina idolises Lady Geist,[18][43] who believes Mina has "potential".[44] Mina wants to dress Geist for the Met Gala.[45]

Infernus

Mina got carded at Jezebel’s by Infernus on her 16th birthday and attempted to bribe him to let her stay.[46] Infernus denied the bribe as he didn’t want to risk Jezebel’s getting shut down.[47]

Even though at least 5 years have passed,[7] Mina still resents Infernus.[48][49]

Infernus hopes that Mina will mellow out as she gets older,[50] and believes that there’s no point in talking sense to Mina now as "she wouldn’t listen anyways".[51]

  • Mina used to have a select line about how having power was pointless if "all you do is sit in the shadows and cower with it".[76] This line was replaced in the Six New Heroes update.
