Seven pressures groups with
Lightning Ball and empowered shots, then uses a delayed stun or
Storm Cloud when the fight gives him a useful opening. Earn
souls between fights, arrive ready to contribute, and use cover and distance to keep shooting.
Storm Cloud is one option, not the only reason to join a fight.
Use the hero database and community builds to check current details and compare approaches. This guide uses the community-maintained game asset data captured October 28, 2026, alongside Valve updates. It is not a live-client test; check in-game descriptions before relying on exact values.
Abilities and upgrade priorities
The community asset snapshot assigns these four
abilities to
Seven. Older guides may describe different upgrades or self-targeting for
Static Charge; the assigned ability description in this snapshot specifies an enemy hero target.
Lightning Ball: fires a ball in a straight line that damages targets within its radius. It slows while damaging enemies and stops when it hits the world. Aim along the space an opponent must cross or through a camp, not into a nearby wall. Its upgrades add a charge, then a
movement slow and lifetime, and finally
damage and radius.
Static Charge: applies a delayed charge to an enemy hero; when it resolves, it damages and stuns enemies within its radius. The target can move during the delay, so judge where they are likely to be rather than treating the stun as instant. Upgrades reduce cooldown, increase radius and cast range, and later add stun duration and
damage.
Power Surge: empowers
Seven’s weapon so shots trigger shock
damage that bounces to nearby enemies; the effect occurs once per burst shot. It rewards a clear firing lane and a target you can hit. Upgrades reduce cooldown, add
movement speed and
damage, then extend duration and apply spirit-resistance reduction.
Storm Cloud: channels an expanding storm that damages enemies in range only while they are in line of sight. Its first upgrade adds bullet resistance while channeling; later tiers increase channel time and radius, then
damage and
flight speed. Bullet resistance is not immunity to control or all
damage. Valve’s June 30 update changed the expansion timing, so do not assume old guide timings still apply.
For a starting priority, invest in
Power Surge if you can consistently shoot through a fight. Choose
Lightning Ball
charges and upgrades when wave clear and space control are your main needs. Put points into
Static Charge when your team can capitalize on the delayed stun or you need more frequent control. Upgrade
Storm Cloud when you can find safe sightlines and your team can protect the channel. These are conditional priorities, not a fixed order.
Place the ball, then choose your shot
Pressure a choke
Check the ball’s path: Is the first surface directly ahead a wall, and will the ball cross the area your target is likely to occupy? Move to a clearer angle before casting if terrain would stop it immediately.
- From a position with an exit, send
Lightning Ball along a corridor or across the route enemies must use. Leave room for its travel; a wall immediately in front of you stops it. - Activate
Power Surge when you have a safe target and shoot. The shock can bounce to nearby enemies, but it starts with a hit on your target. - Apply
Static Charge to an enemy hero when its delayed stun can support a teammate’s follow-up or discourage a close pursuit. Tell allies which enemy carries the charge. - If the target moves behind cover or your position becomes unsafe, reposition rather than standing still to finish the sequence.
This is a practical example, not a guaranteed chain: the ball’s path, enemy
movement and the delay determine whether the pieces overlap.
Protect your space
If a close-range attacker commits, apply
Static Charge to that enemy and move toward cover or teammates while the delay runs. Put
Lightning Ball through the path they are using if the angle is clear, then shoot with
Power Surge when you can do so safely. The stun is delayed, so it may not stop the attack immediately. Use
movement and defensive items if you cannot survive the approach.
Farming without missing the fight
In lane, secure
trooper
souls and use
Power Surge or
Lightning Ball to clear when safe. Aim the ball through several targets and keep enough
health and ammunition to respond to a trade.
After lane, clear a safe wave and use nearby neutral camps during the gap before the next wave or team commitment. A camp is worthwhile only if you can finish it and still respond to the map: leave it when a nearby objective needs help or an enemy is approaching. If a fight is already underway, arriving with your basic
abilities and gun can matter even when
Storm Cloud is unavailable. The souls guide covers the economy in more detail.
Choose between shooting and Storm Cloud
Start behind an ally who can contest the front, with a view of a target and a route back to cover.
Lightning Ball can pressure an entrance while
Power Surge lets you contribute through repeated shots.
Static Charge adds a delayed threat to the hero carrying it and nearby enemies, so coordinate with an ally rather than assuming the target will remain in place.
| Situation | First choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A target is visible and you can safely fire | Power Surge and weapon shots |
You can contribute without committing to a channel. |
| Enemies must cross a clear route | Lightning Ball along that route |
Its traveling |
| Enemies are exposed and allies contest the area | Consider Storm Cloud |
It can pressure the visible area, provided you can survive the channel. |
Should I wait for
Storm Cloud before joining every fight? No.
Lightning Ball,
Static Charge and
Power Surge can support your team while the ultimate is unavailable or its sightlines are poor. Join only when your position and the state of the fight make that contribution practical.
When the enemy breaks sight
Use
Storm Cloud when exposed enemies are within reach, cover does not block the important sightlines, and your team can contest the space. An enemy behind a wall takes no
Storm Cloud
damage; a visually impressive radius alone is not a good reason to channel. Look for threatening control and incoming
spirit damage as well as bullets. If enemies have already moved behind cover or can focus you, hold a firing angle or threaten their route with
Lightning Ball instead of channeling into a wall. An opponent forced behind cover may still give your team room to advance, but do not count that as a kill.
Build choices for the job
These examples are conditional, based on the October 28 community item snapshot, and do not constitute a measured best build. Shop values can change.
| What you need | Example | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
More Lightning Ball uses |
Extra Charge or Rapid Recharge |
They add ability Rapid Recharge also improves charge recovery. Useful when repeated ball placement matters, but each purchase delays another need. |
Mystic Vulnerability |
||
| An imbued ability to last longer | Duration Extender |
Choose the ability whose duration matters in the fight; it is less useful if enemies can simply leave the area. |
| A reload tied to an ability | Quicksilver Reload |
|
| Protection from a burst or control opener | Spirit Shielding or Reactive Barrier |
Spirit Shielding triggers after substantial Reactive Barrier triggers on specified controls. Select for the threat reaching you. |
| Protection from listed control effects | Unstoppable |
Activate before the expected control; it cannot be used while stunned or slept. It does not prevent enemies from using cover or focusing |
For a gun-focused approach, use
Power Surge from a safe firing lane. For an ability-focused approach, prioritize spells you can place effectively. Buy defense if you die before using your
damage. See adapting builds for more on choosing purchases.
Matchups and common errors
Divers and close-range control: Against an initiator such as
Abrams or
Mo & Krill, watch the approach and preserve space between yourself and the front line.
Static Charge is a delayed response, not an instant escape. Ask an ally to help peel and consider a defensive item for the actual
damage or control you face.
Enemies playing around cover: Mobile or ranged opponents such as
Vindicta can make an exposed channel difficult to use. Place
Lightning Ball to contest their route and contribute with your gun while the team creates an opening. A wall that protects them from
Storm Cloud also means you should consider a different angle or save the ultimate.
