Crowd control (CC) restricts or changes an opponent’s actions,
movement or timing. Hero
abilities and items can apply it. Some effects also become shorter when applied in quick succession.
Types
Movement slow reduces speed by a percentage, with a 2 m/s floor. A 30% slow reduces 10 m/s to 7 m/s.- Stun prevents
movement, shooting,
abilities and items, and interrupts casts and channels. Examples include
Concussive Combustion,
Stone Form and
Singularity. - Sleep prevents shooting and
abilities but permits
movement at 2 m/s. It does not interrupt channels, and any
damage wakes the target.
Sleep Dagger and
Naptime apply it. - Immobilize sets speed to zero, blocks voluntary
movement and
movement
abilities, and removes upward acceleration, causing an airborne target to fall. External displacement still works.
Binding Word,
Captivating Read and
Arctic Blast are examples. - Silence prevents activating
abilities but permits active items. It does not interrupt an ability already in progress, such as
Storm Cloud.
Silence Wave,
Silencer and
Focus Lens can apply it. - Item silence prevents active items while allowing
abilities.
Cursed Relic disables all items;
Slowing Hex disables
movement items. - Disarm prevents firing the main weapon but permits melee and
abilities that deal
weapon damage, such as
Bullet Dance.
Sand Blast and
Disarming Hex are examples. - Interrupt immediately cancels ability casts and channels but does not itself prevent subsequent casts. Stun also interrupts; other examples include
Cursed Relic,
Knockdown and
Spirit Snare. - Displacement changes a target’s acceleration or velocity.
Ground Strike,
Exploding Uppercut,
Grapple Arm,
Stake,
Rescue Beam and
Knockdown are examples. - Time stop freezes or slows
movement, animations, casts and channels. Effects can continue: a time-stopped
Singularity still pulls and stuns and its duration is technically extended.
Itani Lo Sahn,
Kinetic Carbine and
Hotel Guest are examples. - Hex changes the target into a small creature with a smaller model and hitbox, faster
movement and increased
damage taken. It blocks weapon, melee, ability and item use, but does not interrupt
abilities or a heavy melee already underway.
Feed the Birds and
Rabbit Hex are the listed sources.
Reductions and immunity
Diminishing returns apply to stun, sleep, immobilize, chain/tether and silence—the same set that triggers
Reactive Barrier. Applying one after one of these effects within the last 9 seconds reduces its duration by 15% to 35%, depending on the number of recent effects. Multiple CC effects from one action, such as
Shoulder Charge’s grab and stun or
Death Slam’s grab and stun, count as one.
Slow resistance reduces slow strength: modified speed = base speed × (1 − slow × (1 − slow resistance)). For example,
Flame Dash’s 12 m/s base speed with a 30% slow and 50% innate slow resistance becomes 10.2 m/s, a 15% reduction.
Invincibility prevents targeting and hits; projectiles and areas pass through. Examples include
Ethereal Shift,
Return to Shadows and the transformation phase of
Shadow Transformation. The first two permit limited
movement;
Yamato cannot move during transformation.
A purge removes debuffs. Removing a delayed effect such as Djinn’s Mark before it detonates prevents its detonation. Examples include tier 3
The Cube,
Shadow Transformation and
Dispel Magic.
Unstoppable grants immunity to all crowd control; sources include the
Unstoppable item, tier 3
Seismic Impact and
Shadow Transformation. The
