Cheater Frog is an anti-cheat mechanic. When the game’s detection system identifies a cheater, other players receive a choice: ban the player immediately or turn them into a frog before the ban. The transformed player can move but cannot perform other actions. The match becomes safe to leave and its result does not count for matchmaking.
The system was announced in the September 26, 2024 update. Its illustration adapted the two-buttons meme with
Abrams choosing between the two outcomes. A former Valve developer described the frog as related to an unused Counter-Strike: Global Offensive concept that would have transformed cheaters into chickens. The frog model is also used in
Pocket’s
Affliction and was formerly used for
Sinclair’s
Rabbit Hex.
