Deadlock fan designs Mothman, a journalist who fights with a camera and moths
The fan proposal gives a cryptid photographer a camera weapon, moth-based
abilities and a mission to protect their community.
CaptainOfGhostShips has shared a fan-made Deadlock hero concept: Mothman, a journalist and photographer representing the American Cryptid’s Society. The Reddit post includes an illustration and backstory, with a separate forum thread detailing the proposed
abilities.
In the creator’s story, Mothman enters the ritual to seek protection for the society’s cryptids while gathering photographs and reporting for the community.
The disguise includes a hat, a coat and an oversized moustache. The creator’s notes explain that the moustache is folded antennae and the coat is folded wings. The camera and flash serve as both reporting tools and the basis for the character’s attacks.
A camera weapon and a moth resource
The forum concept names the weapon Hoax Catcher. Its shots appear as flashes and streams of moths; reloading replaces the camera’s film.
Paparazzi places a destructible lantern whose swarm damages enemies. Catch the scoop spends collected moths to improve
movement for Mothman or an ally. Smile! Your on camera stuns an enemy with a flash that can be charged before use.
The proposed ultimate, Legend of the Mothman, reveals their true form and applies Confusion/Madness to enemies in front, disrupting their shooting and weakening them. A passive lets Mothman cling to walls, with
stamina regeneration paused while attached.
Commenters pointed out similarities between the ultimate and
Nurse Harrow’s. The creator acknowledged the overlap, explaining that the concept began before Harrow’s release and was subsequently revised. This remains a fan proposal; its appearance on the official forum is not a Valve announcement or evidence that the hero is in development.
